Rebecca Berkley is an Associate Professor in Music Education at the University of Reading. She teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate music education programmes at Reading, including the Music specialism on the BA in Primary Education (QTS), which is the only undergraduate education degree in the UK to offer a substantive music specialism for students wishing to train as a music curriculum leader in a primary school. She is also programme director for the Postgraduate Taught Programmes, and leads the MA in Education.

Rebecca's teaching focuses on classroom musicianship, choral education, conducting and leadership. Her scholarship examines how teachers learn to teach music through classroom musicianship as a multi-modal form of expression, and she is a doctoral supervisor. She is also Artistic Director of Universal Voices, a community choir for children which offers a free, high quality choral education for all children in the Reading area, and also opportunities for trainee teachers to learn how to run a choir, by running a choir.

Rebecca also teaches musicianship for Sing for Pleasure, and is a regular contributor to professional conferences and publications, including Music Teacher Magazine.
