Repertoire for Cello 2B

This collection of repertoire books contains Maryan's selection of songs from English-speaking nations which she considers suitable for adaptation to the teaching methods of Csaba Szilvays' Colourstrings Cello School and are designed to complement it.

Songs are chosen from countries including the British Isles, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

There are explanatory guides in each series for teachers and parents. The style of the books will be familiar to Colourstrings teachers, but they are also designed for all cello teachers so that more students will be able to benefit from this unique approach to teaching. Maryan hopes the books will appeal to cellists of any ability, age and stage.

There are several Appalachian folk songs in Series 2. (One of the best known collectors of folk songs was the Englishman, Cecil Sharp (1859 - 1924), who, during his visit to the Appalachian Mountains, discovered that many songs with their origins in the British Isles had been preserved with great purity and accuracy.)
