The 39^th International Kodály Summer School

Monday 14^th August – Saturday 19^th August 2023 at The University of Reading

We are really looking forward to our 39th Summer School in Reading. The 2023 Summer School will include Daily Musicianship classes, Choir and Methodology for everyone.

Afternoon sessions will include Choral Conducting, Singing Games, Early Years, Senior and Tertiary teaching topics, exploring the Model Music Curriculum and National Plan for Music Education, Diverse Repertoire in teaching, and journeys into English Folk Music.

Evening events will include a Masterclass evening with Allan Hubert-Wright and OrsolyaSzabó  - Vocal Health with Allan Hubert-Wright - and a discussion of female folk song collectors with Angela Fogg.

We are delighted to welcome Guest Tutors Dr. Árpád Tóth (Hungary), James Cuskelly OAM (Australia) Orsolya Szabó (Hungary)and Allan Hubert-Wright (France)

With members of our experienced UK tutor team Lucinda Geoghegan, Esther Hargittai, Lynne Clark, Ben Lawrence, Alan Murdock and Chris Andrews.

Optional one-to-one Singing Lessons/Vocal Coaching with Allan Hubert-Wright or Eleanor Meynell and Piano coaching with Orsolya Szabó will also be available at extra cost.

For those with little or no formal training or who are completely new to the Kodály approach to music education, the Kodály Certificate Foundation Level (CPD Certified) can be completed during the week.

The Early Years, Primary and Secondary Certificate courses will continue to be run online throughout the year.
